Everyday Life
I settled in well back home and I’m really grateful to be back. Everyday life is happening. You can read more about it in this text or watch my video.
Show me your ways
In the same way I experienced it in the US very clearly, I want to take that home with me into my German everyday life. In my bible reading plan I stumbled across Psalm 25.
Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long. [Psalm 25:4-5, NIV]
These verses have inspired me these past days. Lord, show me your ways. Show me, what you have for me, where you want to have me, what people I should meet up with. I want to set my hope in Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Especially in a world that is all over the place - ever since, but very much so in this moment - I realize again that God alone is constant. He is the same who He was and He will also never change. God is constant, He’s the anchor, the rock who holds everything in His hand. Let us trust in him.
Everyday Life
What does my day to day life look like? To be honest, every day is different. When I came back, there was a lot of administrative stuff to do: writing emails, sending off thank you cards and magazines and planning the upcoming months. I had a lot of time to continue reading my books. And I also looked into different camera gear: what should I bring to Africa, what do I still need and what should I get rid of.
Then I was photographing a wedding in Mainz last weekend and visited a friend in the meantime. It was a great time, amazing conversations and a beautiful ceremony.
Books, Bible Plan and Journal
Because there hasn’t been a lot going on recently, I wanted to introduce you the books I’m currently reading.
He talks about many lies about singleness and shows that it’s also a chance. Our society often only talks about the drawbacks.
What is God’s plan for my life? He says that it’s not very complicated. But very often, we waste a lot of time looking for an answer.
A shaman in South America who becomes a Christian. Incredible book, insights into tribal life and animism, but also very brutal!
Speaks about the joy in Christ and how we can experience it in the midst of suffering. Great book!
My identity in Christ. Who am I? 4 lies that the devil wants us to believe and God’s answers to them.
Really inspiring. He explains how he tells stories in his photography and which steps he takes.
An eyewitness of the South Sudan war. Really excited to look a bit deeper into the history of this country.
How to work effectively in a team of several nationalities and cultures.
How can we decrease poverty, without hurting the poor. Practical Steps in doing so.
And then also some things that I started this year.
The past years I have been doing a bible reading plan (a different one each year), leading through the whole bible in a year. The bible in one year. Very inspiring and it helps me a lot to understand the general context better. You have to read 3-4 chapters every day. Not very easy at first, but you get used to it.
// God Moments
I write down moments where I encountered God. This little notebook can remind me when I’m down of what God has done in my life. Because unfortunately I forget such things very quickly.
A short journal, where every day has its own page, devided in 5 rows. So you will see on a single page what you did on this specific day in the past years. Cool idea and I’m excited to look back on it in the next couple of years.
What’s next?
This week is super busy. I met up with friends, prepared a prayer evening for our youth group (by Open Doors, praying for persecuted Christians), worked on the sermon for Sunday and was able to give a devotional at my organization (DMG). Plus I had to write this newsletter and in the meantime edit the wedding photos. But God gives me the strength and joy to push through.
The upcoming two weeks are more relaxed. So if you want to invite me, there’s lots of time for that:) With this being said, have a great week, God bless you!
